Diesel Portable Screw Compressors

Description

Diesel Portable Screw Compressors
Diesel portable screw compressors, commonly known as screw air compressors, feature a compact design with fewer vulnerable parts and offer stable performance under high pressure. Originally developed in the 1950s for refrigeration systems, their advantages—such as low exhaust temperatures, tolerance for oil in gas flow (wet stroke), and excellent gas flow regulation—quickly made them a preferred alternative to large-capacity reciprocating compressors.

The compressor’s airend consists of a pair of intermeshing helical rotors—male and female—with multiple concave teeth rotating in opposite directions. These rotors maintain a tight clearance (5–10 threads) without metal contact, thanks to an oil film or synchronized gear drive. Rotor length increases pressure output, while larger rotor diameters enhance airflow capacity. These features make diesel screw compressors reliable, efficient, and ideal for demanding applications like mining, construction, and heavy industry.
