Description
SMC offers a comprehensive range of soil samplers designed for geotechnical and environmental investigations. These tools are engineered to extract undisturbed or minimally disturbed samples for laboratory analysis, allowing for accurate characterization of subsurface conditions.
Most samplers share a common structure, typically consisting of a head with rod connection (some featuring a non-return valve), a sample receiver tube (which may or may not include an inner liner), and a cutting shoe at the base to penetrate the soil.
SMC provides various sampler types to accommodate different soil conditions and testing standards. The most commonly used samplers include:
Windowless Samplers – Ideal for general soil sampling without exposing the core to the environment.
Sectioned Samplers – Allow for segmented recovery of samples and are commonly used when multiple subsurface layers need to be examined.
Split-Barrel / SPT Samplers – Used during the Standard Penetration Test to collect disturbed soil samples.
Shelby Tubes – Thin-walled samplers designed to extract undisturbed cohesive soil samples, ideal for laboratory strength and consolidation testing.
